Listening well and having good communication is living better. At Clínica Lage & Neto, in the area of Audiology, we have means of diagnosis (hearing tests), treatment, rehabilitation and prevention.
Audiology is the science that studies the two main functions of the ear: hearing and balance, and all the disturbances that are linked to them, thus identifying pathologies and carrying out the respective auditory rehabilitation.
Whenever you are faced with a symptom that may indicate an auditory problem, you should contact a health professional, such as the Audiology Technician, to transmit an early assessment, in order to minimize the damage caused. Don't let hearing loss and deafness take away from your quality of life and ability to connect with the world around you.
The Tonal Audiogram is a test that assesses your hearing capacity, allowing you to determine your pure tone hearing threshold, which allows us to know the minimum audible sound intensity.
The Vocal Audiogram is an exam that evaluates the ability to perceive and understand the voice.
This examination is carried out in a special booth, isolated from noise.
Impedanciometry is a hearing test that allows the evaluation of the tympanic membrane and the middle ear ossicles (hammer, incus and stirrup), thus being able to diagnose infections, dysfunction of the Eustachian tube and research of stapedic reflexes.
This examination consists of two procedures: the tympanogram, which evaluates the structures of the external ear and the Eustachian tube (connects the ear to the pharynx) and the study of stapedic reflexes, which evaluates the responses of the stapes muscle when the ear is stimulated by a sound.
Acuphenometry is a hearing test performed in patients complaining of tinnitus or tinnitus, which is defined as an undesirable auditory perception, without external acoustic stimulus, in one or both ears or in the head. The test is performed in a soundproof booth and consists of the subjective identification of tinnitus by the patient, in an attempt to define tinnitus parameters (sound frequency and intensity).
The Dix-Hallpike Maneuver allows identifying vertigo syndromes through ocular-motor movements.
Vestibular Rehabilitation is a complementary, non-invasive treatment based on maneuvers and repetitive physical exercises for the eyes, head and body, which aims to stabilize the vestibular function.
Hearing Rehabilitation consists of improving hearing ability by adapting hearing aids.
